Dave Milliken is the founder of Greetly (www.MyGreetly.com), a product that automates the receptionist position.
TC (TheCOEShow): What was the inspiration behind Greetly?
DM (Greetly): Like it or not, the receptionist position has been disappearing for about 15 years. I found myself visiting financial institutions and other professional services firms. Their visitor experiences were terrible. When you walked in it was unclear what you were supposed to do, who you were supposed to disturb -- it’s an awkward moment.
TC: So how does Greetly fix this problem?
DM: The typical use case for Greetly is a shared workspace. Greetly allows these companies to operate with minimal staff while still connecting visitors and delivery people with their hosts. Visitors walks up to a Greetly kiosk, branded for the client. The visitors checks themselves in. Greetly instantly sends a voice, text and/or email notification to the host.
TC: Who uses Greetly?
DM: Greetly is used by coworking spaces across the globe. We are also used by retailers and various forms of medical offices. Of course a majority of our clients are traditional offices, generally small professional services firms.
TC: This seems like a brand new area. How big is the market?
DM: There are about 17 million professional services firms in the United States. Many are seeking automation in order to better utilize their human capital so their company can get more done and make more money.
